With two young children in our home, itβs almost impossible to keep my sanity when Iβm trying to get things done.
The majority of my time is spent cleaning up after them and picking up their toys.
I have learned through experience that itβs much easier and less frustrating if you just start out with a few basic baby-proofing tips.
Freezer Organization
Set up an organized and easy-to-use freezer, so you can quickly find what you need.
Always label food and donβt store similar items together. Stock up on quart-sized plastic bags, freezer Ziplocs, and glass storage containers.
Group foods together by typeβmeat, fruits, vegetablesβso itβs easy to grab a quick meal when you have no time or little energy.
Bathroom Organization
Toilet Paper β Put a roll of toilet paper inside a pretty basket and place it in your bathroom. Youβll always have TP when you need it, and no more mess on your floor!
Bathroom Organization: Makeup Brushes β If youβre tired of seeing makeup brushes all over your vanity, create an acrylic brush holder that attaches to your mirror. This way, you wonβt have any spills either!

Toy and Books Storage
Toys and books donβt have to be scattered around your homeβyou can corral them in a few creative ways.
Find some cool, inexpensive baskets at any flea market or store. Put all of your sonβs cars in one basket, and all of his trains in another.

Cord clutter is a big issue in any room of your home where you have electronic devices (and weβre not just talking about those pesky charger cables).
To cut down on cord clutter, take a look at your circuit breaker and see if there are any lights or outlets that arenβt being used.

If you live in an apartment, skip a closet and instead clear a space in front of your door that provides easy access when itβs time to come inside.

1. Every home should have both rubber drawer liners and organizer inserts. At some point, everyone has purchased one of those expensive silverware organizers at Target only to have it filled with knives that never match up again (you know what I mean).
For really old kitchens or tight spots under sinks, drawer organizers are greatβin fact, Iβve found them indispensable for my bathroom vanity drawers (like here) as well as my laundry room.

Those large cardboard boxes that toys come in are great for storing them, but itβs often hard to fit them in your home. Instead, make your own toy chest with a bit of creativity and some arts and crafts supplies.
Whether you use an old dresser or other furniture, itβs easy to turn a simple box into a fun and functional place to store toys.
